Description
Winemaker Daniel Vollenweiders life was changed upon tasting a 1990 Auslese Riesling, pushing him, a Swiss man with zero winemaking connection, to move to the Mosel and pursue the craft. He purchased one hectare of vines in 1999, ideally situated on steep, slate soiled slopes, implementing a hands-off mentality in the cellar. The 2016 Wolfer Goldgrube Spatlese is dense and luscious, with electric acidity and a saline-tinged finish.
